Modifying cars can be a great thing to do your car. You can make it more exciting, personalise it or just ruin it because you like to watch the world burn. Some cars are modified more often than others but my question is of those cars, what car would you leave stock?

For me it would be the Mitsubishi Evo, in particular the 9 (I'm not a fan of how the 10 looks). From the factory this car is equally happy to be on a dirt road or a track as it would be a B road and I see no need to ruin the balance.

if I could get the right version of the 6th gen civic hatch, I'd leave it looking exactly like this, direct from the dealer

CRX. They look so good, and drive so well, as stock, why mess with a good thing?

I think I'd agree with you on the Evo. I may look at 8/9s when I am in the market for a new daily driver. If I do, I will have to fight the urge to modify it though. But it seems it would be good enough to keep me happy.

Honestly I think there are a good ratio of stock FD's it's just there aren't enough FD's in general to go around these days.

I have a hard time leaving anything stock, but I think I'd be happy with a hawk eye STI the way it left the factory. I might be able to leave an RX-7 alone for a while, but wheels would eventually be swapped.

Just to give you an idea, in my relatively shot life of owning cars I've spent more money on wheels than actually vehicles and I'm currently on car number 5 (or 6. Not sure if the Lincoln should count since I got it for free and only drove it once).

It's an issue.

But I haven't actually lost much money buying and selling wheels, so that's cool.

Ls swaps are becoming more and more popular. I get why, but I want some stock ones left for when I'm able to get one

Um...you do realize that example #1 has been lowered and is on aftermarket wheels...right? That said, I do agree that a stock R32 GTR would be a very fun car to own, as would an FD or a 300ZX.

That sounds awful. I get some LS swaps but that just sounds like a bad idea.

yes I do but it was the closest to stock example I had. Further evidence that these need to be left alone for the sake of my car pron stash!

Stock FDs can kill their engine due to overheating..they need at least a bigger intercooler and radiator.

I would at the least want to upgrade the cooling systems...the stock radiator and intercooler on the FD are entirely too small (and heat is the enemy of rotaries).

That's fair enough, I'd also likely change out the shocks for something after market since those are likely worn out by now and there are some very nice options out that preform very well but aren't uncomfortable to drive on.

A coworker's corn-fed 500 hp Evo would beg to differ.

Limit modifications to (some) wheels/tires, suspension upgrades (with limited lowering), and an increase in power.
